A good start to the season for the U8s after being promoted to division 1. Another good performance today V Culcheth (unfortunately we can't publish scores due to WJFL rules).
Our new U11s side picked themselves up after a heavy defeat against a very good Culcheth side to win 2-1 at Appleton- a superb game and a credit to kids football. After starting the season with only 8 fit players, we now have 12 with more to come. Congratulaions to all the players and to Dave and Bob on a great achievement pulling it together so quickly.
The U13A continue to be frustrated by games being cancelled due to opponents being involved in cup games outside Warrington but so far a hard fought win and a slightly fortunate draw leaves them unbeaten.
The U13B have also been frustrated with games being callled off due to opposition folding, opposition cup games and have lost their one and only game so far.
The U15s had a graet start with a 7-0 win.
LEAGUE AFFILIATION
We are pleased to announce that our League Affiliation has now been granted and teams are free to fulfill their fixtures. A big thank you to Dave Pugh at Liverpool FA for his help in sorting things out.

Last night at approximately 8pm we received a phone call from the Warrington Junior League Chairman, Paul Dawson, to inform us that the Liverpool FA had not granted the club an affiliation number for the season 2009-10. We were also informed that until this was granted we could not play any matches.
The club is very disappointed at this situation and we are actively seeking a reason for our current exclusion.
We can confirm that we have confirmation from the Warrington JFL secretary that our application was received in May 2009. Likewise we have proof that the Warrington JFL Treasurer received our payment in June 2009 (although the cheque has still not been cashed).
Our new Welfare Officer completed his training on 1st September and after a phone call to the FA we were assured that there were no problems with our affiliation.
As at 8pm on Friday 4th September there were 19 clubs who still had not received affiliation (including Woolston Rovers- a charter standard club). Later on Friday, somebody at the FA had managed to find affiliation records on his computer for 15 of the clubs affected and gave permission for them to play. I cannot explain how someone at the FA was accessing FA files hours after the FA had closed.
We hope to rectify this situation urgently with the league and will let you know as soon as we make progress.
Please check our website www.freewebs.com/ropeandanchorjfc for updates.
Good luck for the coming season.

The new season is nearly upon us and there have been a few changes since last term. Our U17s have gone to an open age league. Our U16s have not moved up to 17s.
Our oldest team is now the U15s managed by Pete Murphy and they are on the lookout for a couple of quality additions.
Our U13s continue with 2 sides, the Division 1 side looking to improve on a disappointing 6th place amd the Div 3 side hoping to push for promotion after a great first season in division 3.
We have has a lot of interest in forming a U11 side and so far have 9 players looking to join. We urgently need 4-5 more players from school year 6 (last year at primary)
Our U8s were looking to field 2 teams this season but have so far been unable to find a manager for the division 5 side and will threfore just field a side in division 1.
New players always welcome.. please contact Steve on 07890451825

A disappointing week for most of our teams, with defeats for the U12A, 14s and 16s. The only winners were the U12B who did the double over Monks winning 3-2 after trailing 1-2 in the second half. The U12sA will welcome back Callum Spencer in goal next week after 4 weeks out injured just in time for the cup quarter final. The U12B take on Appleton C in the auxilliary cup quarter final.
Updated 15th February 09
The U12A made their way into the last 8 with a solid if not always convincing 3-1 against division 1 east Leigh. Performance of the day came from the U12B who came from 4-0 down to beat first division Senely & Garswood 4-5!!!!. No game for the U14s/ U16s. The U17s lost 5-4 V Sidac at home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
The cold weather continues to play havoc with league fixtures, with all games called off last week. Yesterday the U7s were again victims to the freeze and had no game. The U12B and U14s called their games off last night expecting the pitches to be frozen while the U12A used the opportunity to switch an away fixture to our home ground and beat East leigh 6-0. The U17s lost 2-1 away at Leigh.
Could I just remind EVERYONE that they must not use the Monks car park for Rope Matches. Please use the Hillock Lane car park. Thank you.

No football again this week- looks like we will be having a few 'catch up' games next year. The big news of the week was the superb turn out on Friday at the charity bash at the Woolston Legion in memory of Sharon Corless. The place was absolutely packed to the rafters and a great night was had by all. A big thank you to everyone who gave up their time and money to support the event and special thanks to our DJ- Dave from Matthiola and Kevin 'Elvis' Foy who both performed free (sorry Elvis did we not explain?), to Lynn Ford for getting hold of some great raffle and auction items and to Guy, Tina and Connor for parting with a signed David Beckham shirt to help the cause. Also a special mention to Phil 'Sir Bob' Freaney who pulled the whole thing together and without who's drive and enthusiasm it wouldn't have been possible (also to Mrs Geldof - Nicky for getting him organised as usual).
All proceeds are going to Sharon's favourite charity- the NSPCC; a total of £1862.10
Updated 2nd December 2008
Another week of little activity thanks to the poor weather. The only game played saw our U12B beat Monks A in a thrilling match with the Rope twice coming from behind to win 2-3.
Updated 23rd November 2008
Very few games played in any division today due to the horrendous weather. Thankfully the U12A went for an early ko and just about managed to get their game on, beating St Helens 4-2 to maintain 3rd spot.
Tickets are on sale for the charity night in memory of Sharon Corless- price £3.50 each or £10 for famiy ticket- (2 adults and 3 kids). Please contact Phil Freaney for tickets . The date is 5th December at Woolston Legion. We have a DJ and raffle and Elvis will be in the building!!!!!!!!! All proceeds to Sharon's favourite charity the NSPCC.
The council have now thankfully put the goal posts back on all pitches so there should be no further fixture congestion.
Can all managers please put their scores on to OKS as soon as possible after a game. Thanks.

A mixed bag of results this week .
The U12A lost 3-0 at Woolston but the B pulled off a great 2-1 win V Woolston B with only 10 players.
The U14s and U16s both lost but our U17s managed their first win of the season.
Word from the council is that the changing rooms will cost £190000 to repair!!! Somebody did suggest that we could buy a house on Poulton Crescent for a lot less but I think we would have to increase subs to cover the cost!
Most sides will be looking at training elsewhere soon as the light fades- please check arrangements with your team manager.
Updated 15th September
The new season finally got underway this weekend. The new U7s got us off to a great start in their very first league match.
Home matches took place after we cut our own pitches- the council didn't show this week and none of the pitches would have been playable. The U12s A won 5-0 and top the first division after one match. If we can get all the rest of the season called off we might be crowned champions on the Duckworth Lewis method!
The U12B earned a fine away draw despite starting with only 10 players.
The U14s won 6-1 and manager Pete Murphy was still grumbling about the 1 we let in!

The U16s lost 1-0 to Woolston.
The U17s lost 2-0 to Eagle on a patchwork pitch which was cut in some places and not in others- thankfully the opposition declined the ref's offer to call the game off due to the state of the pitch.
Updated 7th September 2008
At last- the new season is here!!!! Unfortunately there was little or no football to be had anywhere due to the weather.
Most of our sides will start their campaign next weekend. It's been a busy summer- we now have a new U12B side in division 3 managed by Neil Wightman. Our U17s will start in the Warrington Youth League and 'Freaney's Fledglings will finally get to play league football after what seems an age of recruiting and training.
We can still use new faces at all age groups and also would welcome any involvement from parents or ex managers at any level. We need everyone to play their part and make sure that the Rope goes from strength to strength.
Good luck to all of our sides- enjoy your football.
Updated 23 July 2008
After the mad rush to get players registered in time, we can now confirm that we will have the following sides next season:
U7, U12A, U12B, U14 U16 in the warrington junior league plus U17 in the warrington youth league.
On Saturday we will have a coach from Liverpool training the U6/7 from 10.00am to 12.00.
All of our sides are actively recruiting for the new season, inparticular the U12B who need another 4-5 players to strengthen the squad, the U16s need another 3-4 players AND NEED A GOALKEEPER AS THE LAST ONE HAS MOVED ON. Anyone wanting to come down and try out should ring Steve on 07890451825.
Updated 10th July 2008
All quiet on the football front with the season over and the new one still 2 months away.
The club have had a meeting with the Parish council re getting the changing rooms back in use. Watch this space.
All managers should now be making progress with registering players for next season- at least 7 are required per team by 20th July.
The U12s Div 3 have a new manager, a holder of the FA coaching badge level 1. After some doubts we can now confirm that we will have two U12s sides next season.
Last season's U16s are looking to move into the Warrington Youth league next season- they have already had their application accepted.
The new U7s side has been placed in division 2.
We are still recruiting at all age groups. The U16s have lost their goalkeeper and need to find a replacement.
Updated 18 May 2008
The annual presentation night took place on Friday at the Woolston British Legion. A few less faces than last year with the U13s and U11B not represented but at least we could all get a seat and the queues at the bar were a little smaller. All players received an award in recognition of their efforts this year. The U11A captain Tom Weeder received a special award for outstanding contribution in recognition of his bravery as he continued to play 8 games after breaking a bone in his back without knowing. Tom is now on the long road to recovery and we all wish him well.
The academy side 'Freaney's Fledgelings' held their first presentation night at St Oswald's club on Saturday. The kids had a great time and loved the entertainer 'dopey Dave'.. The kids continued to enjoy their night as they took over the mic and ran the stand up bingo. Not surprisingly- the parents were nowhere to be seen when the finalists were announced. The parents, led by Tracey, combined their talents to put on a great spread and we finished with all the boys getting their awards.
Other news... and the U11B manager has announced that he is off to Monks and taking the players with him.
Woolston U11s won their last match which puts them as runners up and Rope 3rd.
The U16s are looking at having another season in either the WJFL or mid cheshire league.
Updated 4th May 2008
The U16s produced the result of the day with a 3-0 away win against champions Haydock who previously had a 100% record.
The U11A should be getting the 3 points after East Leigh failed to show on the final game of the season- Rope will finish 3rd as a result.
U11A captain Tom is on the road to recovery but will be missing until at least October.
Reminders-
Rope Managers' meeting wednesday 7th May
Presentation night Friday 16th May
Season ends/ transfer window opens 23rd May
Updated 1st May 2008
As the season comes to an end, there again weren't many fixtures this week. Our U11B had a priceless win V Seneley & Garswood which moved them up the league and guarantees safety in the 3rd division.
U11A captain Tom 'Bingo' Weeder has been sidelined until next season after his 'slight' injury turned out to be a cracked bone in his back. Unbelievable that it wasn't diagnosed when he did it but even more unbelievable that he played on since October with such an injury. Tom was recognised by radio station Key 103 for his incredible bravery and was invited into the studio to try his hand at presenting. Nice one Bingo... get well soon.
The Managers' meeting has been put back to Wednesday 7th May due to the European Champions League semi this week.
Managers need to nominate a team in their league for sportsmanship asap for the league presentation..
We have entered the same sides again next season plus 2 sides at U7s.
We are still looking for new players at most of our age groups- the season officially ends 23rd May and the transfer window opens then. Form are available on the ourkids website.
Updated 20th April 2008
The U11A became the first side to win at East Leigh this season with a deserved 2-0 win.
The u13s drew 2-2 with Irlam
The U15s won 1-0 away at Newton
The U16s won away at Seneley and Garswood but the win was marred by a serious knee injury to a Seneley player which required an ambulance and the game being held up for 40 minutes. Our best wishes go to him for a quick recovery.
Reminder: Presentation night is Friday 16th May
Updated 14th April 2008
Not much football anywhere in Warrington this week due to torrential overnight rain but Rope were one of only 2 clubs to get matches on with the U11 and U12s auxilliary semis taking place. In the U11s, 4th division Earlestown and Appleton fought out a great game of cup football and after extra time the sides still couldn't be seperated- Earlestown eventually winning on penalties. The U12s saw Eagle beat Parkdale despite having to defend for long periods but using quick counter attacking
Updated 6th April
The U11A went down 0-4 to table topping Matthiolla in the cup quarter final.
The U15s drew 0-0 in a hard fought match against top of the table Monks
The u16s won 12-0 (or was it 13?) against Matthiolla.
Rope and Anchor will host 2 cup semis next week (Sunday). If anyone can help out with setting up- please contact Steve Martin asap.
Updated 31st March 2008
The U11A staged a great comeback to draw 3-3 with Woolston after trailing 1-3 with 10 minutes to go. Ex Woolston star Joe scored with a cool finish and Keenan scored two brilliant long range goals to earn us a point.
The U11B have been refused permission to sign new players outside the transfer window even though the new boys are not currently with any club. The decision was made in the same week the FA allowed Liverpool to sign Mascherano- the reason this was allowed outside the transfer window?... becaused he wasn't signed to another club. The U11B are struggling to put together a side as 2 boys are out injured for the rest of the season.
The U15s lost 3-1 in a close game aginst top of the table Monks.
We have been advised that League Observers will be attending our games shortly to look at standards of behaviour and sportsmanship amongst players, spectators and club officials. Could all managers please remind everyone concerned of the standards set by the league.
Updated 27th March 2008
The quarter final and semi final cup draws have taken place. Our only remaining side are the U11A who take on runaway league leaders Matthiolla.

Updated 9th March 2008
The U11A march on in their quest to retain the challenge cup- a resounding 2-6 win at first division Garswood. The U11B's great run came to a shuddering halt with a 6-1 defeat at Appleton 'C'. The U13s just lost out in the cup, losing 3-2 to Culcheth. The U15s beat local rivals Woolston 2-1 in the local deby and the U16s went close to doing a 'Barnsley' as they lost 5-3 to high flying division 1 side Cadishead after being level at 3-3 early in the second half.
Updated 2 March 2008
Big wins today for the U11A, 9-2 away at Appleton B and for the U15s with a thumping 8-0 win at Cromwell. The U16s drew 1-1 with Newton and the U13s lost 4-2 to Fife.
The cup draw has taken place and is shown below. Please note that cup games have priority over the league. If you are out of the cup-please check your opponents for next week. If they have a cup game, your league fixture will have to be rearranged. Cup games are scheduled for next Sunday.

The U16s won 3-2 in a hard fought league match.

Two outstanding performances this week.. The U11B who were bottom of the league pulling off a superb 3-2 win V third placed Culcheth and the U15s romping home to a magnificent 6-0 win. The U11A had a comfortable 7-2 win but were 7-1 up at half time and should have pushed on from there.

Happy New Year 2008... Footy is back!
After our enforced winter break, fixtures start again on Sunday 13th January. We have 2 sides at home (U11A and U13) and the rest away. Would managers please note that choice of kick off time is given in order of age group (ie oldest first). If you are sharing the same ref, you must check with senior age groups first before arranging a kick off time with the opposition. The referee can't do more than one match at a time regardless of how many pitches we have available.
The next managers' meeting is 9pm at RBL on Wednesday 23 January. Could all managers who have trophies to return please return them to Steve Martin before this date so that Steve can hand them back to the league before February.
Tom Weeder has set a new record for recovering from a broken toe and will play for the U11a just 4 weeks after his latest accident... even Rooney took 6!
Our U16s have a few new faces for the second half of the season to add to an already impressive squad.
The U6s continue to impress in training and are looking good for next year's U7s. If anybody would like to get involved with helping out with this,or any of our age groups, please contact the relevant team manager.
Updated 17th December 2007
Only game this weekend was a narrow defeat for our U16s, losing 0-1 against division 1 side Widnes Bayer.
PLAYERS ARE STILL WANTED BY MOST OF OUR SIDES AND THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS OPEN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO US ABOUT JOINING 'THE ROPE' PLEASE RING STEVE ON 07890451825.

The league programme has now finished until the new year unless sides have arranged any catch up matches. The new fixtures for 2008 will be published on www.ourkidssports.com
Jud Thorniley made his debut against Man United this weekend and had a good game against a very strong Man U side. United won 6-2.
Have a very merry christmas and a happy new year. See you in 2008
Updated 2nd December
The U11a said goodbye this week to one of their star players- Jud Thorniley leaving us after 4 great years to sign for Everton academy. In that time Jud has won 3 player of the year awards- 2 league titles, 1 runners up medal and a winners medal in the U10 cup final. We will be sad to see him go but we are immensely proud of one of our boys doing so well.
As one player leaves- another one joins- Joe Threadgold from Woolston has joined our U11A and made his debut today, scoring 4 goals and showing what a fantastic signing he is going to be.
The U11A won 8-0 in a physical battle V Appleton B in attrocious weather conditions.
The U11B lost to Matthiola A.
The U13s were unlucky to concede 2 late, the game finisshing 0-2 to the visitors.
The U15s were rained off at East Leigh and the U16 play their cup game next week.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PARENTS----- WE HAVE BEEN WARNED BY MONKS THAT ONLY MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO USE THEIR CAR PARK AND THAT CLAMPING MAY BE INTRODUCED. PLEASE USE THE HILLOCK LANE CAR PARK INSTEAD. THANK YOU.
Updated 26th November 2007
The cup draw has been made as follows:
U11A V Appleton B (home)
U11B V Matthiola A (home)
U13 V Crosfields B (home)
U15 V East Leigh B (away)
U16 V Widnes Bayer A (home)
Games will be played on either Sunday 2nd December or 9th December.
Highlights are the U16s getting a chance to take on a good division 1 side and the U11B taking on Matthiola who just happen to be top of division 1 and unbeaten all season.
Updated 25th November 2007
No game for the U11s today- the 'A' being rained off at Matthiola and the 'B' having another week with no fixture.
Game of the day was the U15s home win against Winwick which was a real cracker with the lead cghanging hands several times, Rope running out 5-3 winners.
U16s romped home 9-1 against Garswood to keep up the pressure on Haaydock at the top of the league- another superb performance.
The U11A welcome a new face with the signing of Joe from Woolston. This is a huge signing, not only do not many players make the Rope/ Woolston switch but he is also their top scorer this season.
Updated 11 November 2007
No game this weekend for our U11B, U13 or U15.
U11a won comfortably against Appleton A 4-0 with Regan Foy scoring a hat trick.
U16s won 3-0 to stay on course for a top 2 finish,
Updated 4 November 2007
U11a win convincingly 2-0 away at Penlake- probably our best performance so far and our first clean sheet.
U15s drew 1-1 at Winwick in a close game.
U16s won but I have no idea what the score was as my 'source' is Kath Wykes and she is a bit forgetful.
Updated 29 October 2007
U11a got back to winning ways- a 3-1 home win aginst bottom side Appleton B. Not the most convincing of wins but as they say 'they all count'.
U15s lost at home to East Leigh 4-1 after leading, apparently a bit of a heated battle.
No game for the U16s although Jonny Wykes did get a run out as a ref for the U11s.
.
Managers meeting 24 October 2007
League reminder that only 2 officials are allowed in front of the roped off area (this includes the person acting as linesman)
League reminder- all pitches must be roped off with ropes stretching box to box. Parents must stay within this area.
League reminder- if you have to cancel a game for any reason, you must advise the referee immediately. We recently had one of our sides cancel a game by agreement with the opposition but nobody told the ref who was not very happy when he turned up with no game to ref.
The league are sending out observers to look at how we behave at matches. Please make sure we avoid any problems by making sure pitches are roped off correctly, parents in the roped off areas only, max 2 officials on the touchline, no badgering the ref, remembering that this is kids football and that the refs are often not much older than kids themselves.
We still need to submit a report re the recent abandonment of the game V Culcheth (U13).
It was agreed that while Steve would continue to operate the bank account for the U11A & U11B, The B manager Mike would deal directly with Treasurer Rob Fleet regarding paaying for training. Steve will pay the received B team subscriptions directly to the treasurer.
While the next league meeting is not until January, Steve Martin intends to call another managers meeting late in November as it was felt that nearly 3 months was too long between meetings. At the next meeting we will finalise all CRB check forms.
Updated 21 October 2007

The U11b drew 4-4 with Winwick
The U15s lost 2-1 to woolston
Game of the day saw our U16s lose 2-4 to joint leaders Haydock- an absolutely superb game which I was lucky enough to see. Both sides will occupy top 2 spots if they carry on like this.
Managers' Meeting on Wednesday- please bring your ID and CRB forms so that Steve Martin can get these sorted.
Updated 14 Oct 2007
The Under 11A suffered their second defeat of the season, this time against Culcheth- the league is slipping away.
The U15s had a stonking 6-0 home win against Whittle Hall
The U16s continue their amazing start to the season with a 3-2 win V Wigan Junior Latics.
Next Managers meeting is at 9pm, British Legion Wednesday 24th October.

U11A got back on track with a thumping 9-1 win against Seneley & Garswood.
U11B lost against bottom of the table Monks 3-0
U15s lost 3-0
U16s carried on their incredible charge towards division 1 with another resounding win, this time 7-2 V Fife.
Sorry to hear that the assistant manager Martyn Jones has left the U13s- hopefully the parents will rally round and support Pete to keep things going. Thanks to Martyn for all his hard work.
Updated 30 September 2007
The all conquering U11A were thrashed 10-5 today by Woolston. Some hotly debated decisions and some players missing but no doubt that the best side won. An absolute shocker of a performance.
The U15s were well beaten too- 5-0 at home to Bruche.
The U16s ground out a 3-2 away win at Culcheth in a heated match.
Could I please ask that managers put their scores in to me as soon as possible. So far only Chris Melia has done this without fail and it's getting to be a drag having to ring around every week. From next week, I'll send in your scores if I have them, I won't be ringing around chasing you. Thank you- Steve Kennedy. PS tel 01925816450 07890451825 e-mail stevekennedy5@aol.com- do it any way you like- just do it!
Reminder... the transfer window opens 14th October.

U11 Division 3 leaders Highfield appear to have been moved up into division 2. After 3 games they had won 3 scored 29 and conceded 0! Not had any official confirmation of this but they are now showing on our kids website as being in div 2, no games played. The 9 goals that Highfield scored against our B are still showing in our goals against column.

This week saw our U11A keep up their 100% record with a resounding 4-2 away win at Appleton- it really should have been 10!
The U11B lost 9-0 away at Highfield but considering the oppostion won 15-0 last week and we had no recognised keeper it could have been worse.
The U13s won 6-1 away at Fife with hat tricks for Joe and Lewis- they look like being great additions this year.
The U15s won 2-0 away at Matthiolla with goals from Chris Melia (that's the manager's son- not the manager) and Ryan Myers.
The U16s sit on top of division 2 with their 3rd consecutive win- this time a 2-0 away win.
Not a bad week- 4 wins out of 5.
